01/31/09 - CO detector activation in the evening hours
19:33 - Co 2, Co 8, EMS 20 sent to Manbeck Heights (4th Street Ext) for a CO detector activation. Box 2-01. Truck 27 marked out with 6, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. Chief 21 o/s advising T27 to access off Crawford Drive, Rescue 89 w/ gas meter to check the residence. Chief 81 got a reading over 100ppm in the basement, 38ppm on the first floor - found the chimney was all but clogged. Units laddered the building and cleared the chimney, T27 vented the structure, residence cleared of CO. Units o/s approx 1 hr. This was MY residence (Chief 21-3) and wanted to THANK everyone that came out to help - it is greatly appreciated, so Thank You.

01/30/09 - Kitchen fire in the boro strikes 1st alarm
Around Noon - Co 2, 1, 4, 5, EMS 20 dispatched to Mifflintown Boro, 111B Bridge Street - apartments above the La Columbia Store - for a structure fire. Box 2-01. Truck 27 marked out with 6, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. Advised a fire in the kitchen of the apartment, they were to be evactuating. T27 arrived with normal conditions on Side A. E12-1 to stage the hydrant at Front & Bridge, E22 staged Side A middle of the row and sent manpower to T27. T27 crew advised of smoke conditions and smoldering kitchen tiles, Command held the box to units o/s - Units cleared within 45 mins

01/29/09 - Engine 22 services Mifflin County for a while
22:04 - Co 2 Engine, Co 3 Traffic dispatched to Mifflin Couty to assist - MC units working a structure fire on Hawstone Rd. E22 to transfer to Station 13, T38 to close Hawstone Rd at the county line. E22 marked out with 6, Chief 21 (Zimmerman) in the seat. En route, E22's destination was changed to Station 15 in Granville Twp. No response from Co 3. E22 transferred and stood by for approx 2 hrs

01/28/09 - Slushy roads add a few calls for the afternoon
16:57 - Co 2 called to assist Co 8, Delaware Twp. Rt 322 E/B just west of T-town Exit. Box 8-06. Rescue 29 marked out with 6, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. E82-1 was responding, reported multiple vehicles, uknown injuries. Amb 85-2 o/s with 2 vehicles, 1 on its roof, 1 in the ditch - Chief 21 was o/s with EMS, R29 arrived and staged, poss no injuries.

17:11 - While on the scene of the first call, units were advised of a 2nd accident near the Pfoutz Valley Rd Exit. Chief 21 & EMS were staying at the first call, others units to cover the Pfoutz valley Call. Delaware Twp. Rt 322 W/B at the exit, Box 8-05. 2nd call reports poss 2 injuries.

01/26/09 - Engine 22 heads to the airport for LZ Ops
19:49 - Co 2 dispatched to Mifflintown Airport to assist with a landing zone. Box 2-01. Engine 22 marked out with 6, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. Amb 45 w/ Medic 29 were en route with a cardiac patient from McAlisterville. When E22 marked out, they were advised of a 13 min ETA and to use Fire 2. E22 was out for approx 25 mins.

01/25/09 - Late night EMS assist call in Walker Twp.
23:38 - Co 2 dispatched to Walker Twp. Zimmerman Hill Rd, assist EMS with lifting. Box 2-02. Rescue 29 marked out with 6. MICU 15-3 was o/s with a pt in respitory distress. R29 arrived and personnel assisted with pt. package and extrication from residence. R29 o/s approx 15 mins

01/23/09 - Automatic fire alarm in the boro starts Friday
07:32 - Co 2, Co 1, EMS 20 dispatched to 208 Lemon St - Westminster Presbyterian Church - for an automatic fire alarm. Box 2-01. As Engine 22 marked out, JCCC advised 2nd call back states to cancel, false trip. E22 went avail, box cleared.

01/22/09 - Engine summoned to Fayette Twp starts the day
07:57 - Co 2, Co 9 engines due in place of Co 4, Co 6 - Fayette Twp on Cocolamus Rd, for a tractor trailer overturned, reported as no injuries. Box 4-02. E42 responded, placing Co 2 avail. Chief 91-2 o/s advising no injuries, A45 placed ALS avail.

12:16 - Co 9, Co 2 Rescue, EMS 9, Medic 29 called to West Swartz Rd off Evandale Hill Rd, for a farming accident. Box 9-04. Rescue 29 marked out with 8, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. JCCC advised a tractor roll over with a male subject pinned under it. Chief 91-2 placing air medical on stand-by. Chief 91-2 o/s advised male subject pinned, trauma arrest, air medical avail. Chief also requested a front end loader to assist with extrication, tractor down over an embankment. EMS placed ALS avail, requested coroner. R29 arrived and the rescue became a recovery. Frymoyers arrived, pt extricated, units avail. Units o/s approx 2 hours.

01/21/09 - Working fire in Mifflin County gets a transfer from the 2 house.
21:45- Engine 22 transfers to Mifflin County Station 1 (Burnham) while MC units battle a fire in Decatur Twp at American Hickory. Engine 22 marked out with 6 with Chief 21 (Zimmerman) in the seat.



01/18/09 - Early morning 1st Alarm sends units to Mexico
02:40 - Co's 2, 1, 4, 6, 8 sent to the village of Mexico, on Front Street (2 doors from the post office), for a reported structure fire. Box 2-02. Engine 22 marked out with 5, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. JCCC advised the caller reported a power outage, now the house filling with smoke. E22 arrived with normal conditions, Side A. Interior crews reported light smoke on Div 1, poss a furnace malfunction. Command had all units respond in non-emergency and stage. Further investigation showed the furnace breaker was kicked and the fan was poss OOS. Box held to Co 2 & Co 1. The rest of the house was cleared, owner to make contact with service man, box cleared.

01/17/09 - Mifflin Boro MVA starts the day off
10:30 - Co 3, Co 2, EMS 20 sent to Mifflin Boro - Mowery & Valley St - for a reported single vehicle accident. Box 3-01. Rescue 29 marked out with 6, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. JCCC reported 1 vehicle into a house, poss 1 minor injury. Capt 21-3 (J. Boreman) arrived o/s with a single vehicle on the porch, 1 occupant out, poss refusal. Once E32-2 arrived, R29 was placed avail. No pt transport, refusal.

01/16/09 - Port Royal house fire puts the truck & engine to work
22:05 - Co 1, Co 2, Co 5, Co 4, EMS 1, EMS 20 sent to Port Royal Boro, 707 Main Street, 1st Alarm in Box 1-01 for a reported structure fire. Engine 22 marked out with 5, Chief 21-3 (K. Boreman) in the seat. Chief 11 arrived o/s and reported heavy smoke showing, Co 2 got assignsments from Chief 11. E22 accessed Main St off Rt 75 (at Taylor's Service Center), snagged the hydrant and laid 400' of 5" up to 8th Street. Truck 27 accessed off 8th Street, set up on the A/D corner and went to work . E22 stretched 1 200' 1 3/4" line to assist Co 1 with interior attack. E52 was sent to Walker Access for fill site, but with the hydrant and the nice knockdown, fill site was ordered down and E52 to the scene. Fire was out and overhaul was done - units o/s approx 2 hrs

01/15/09 - Vehicle into a structure starts the morning
08:01 - Co 1, Co 2, EMS 1 dispatched to Turbett Twp, Rt 75 in the area of BT Trucking, for 1 vehicle into a barn, poss 1 minor/no injury. Box 1-02. Rescue 29 marked out with 4, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. Engine 12-1 arrived, confirming dispatch, reporting female operator out walking around, placing R29 available. Co 1 units o/s until the arrival of PSP

01/14/09 - Working basement fire strikes Deuces in the 2-03 Box
20:28 - Co 2, Co 1, Co 4, Co 6, EMS 20 dispatched to Fermanagh Twp - Horningtown Road, 1st Alarm for reported basement fire. Box 2-03. Engine 22 marked out with 6, Chief 21 (Zimmerman) in the seat. JCCC reported fire in the basement, they were evacuating. E22 o/s with working fire, requesting 2nd alarm. 2nd alarm added Co 5, Co 8, Co 6. 50/30 ranch style house with fire showing from the rear basement windows on arrival and heavy smoke from the eves and doors. E22 first in -stuck in the drive- stretched two hand lines to side-C and made entry through a sliding door. Interior crew met with fire through the floor around a hot air vent in the floor, and fire in the first floor. They advanced to the basement steps and made an aggressive attack on a well-advanced fire in the basement involving the dryer and several cabinets as well as much debris in the area. Truck 27 arrived and was staged out due to the weather conditions, after the truck crew gathered their equipment and hiked to the scene, ladders were thrown and the roof crew cut a hole - then proceeded to the interior to assist the engine with opening up. Fire placed under control @ 2118 as MC Engine 4-1 deployed for final overhaul.

01/12/09 - 1st Alarm in Mifflin Boro strikes the 3-01 Box
15:58 - Co 3, Co 2, Co 1, Co 5, EMS 20 dispatched to Mifflin Boro, 212 Juniata Street, for a reported garage fire. Box 3-01. Engine 22 marked out 6, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. Chief 31 arrived with fire possibly out. E22 being the only unit responding, Chief 31 held E22 and had Co 3 re-dispatched. E22 arrived with light smoke from the building - E22 crews split, interior/exterior crews with overhaul. There was heavy fire damage interior and exterior around the woodstove crock that exited the building on Side C - Interior crew set up PPV and stripped insulation. Exterior crew ripped off the siding and checked for extension. E32-2 arrived and staged. By-standers with garden hose stopped the spread and any further damage. Units o/s approx 20 mins

01/09/09 - Overturned dump truck before the snow storm
14:14- Co 2, Co 1, EMS 20 dispatched to Walker Twp, intersection of Cedar Spring Road & Long Road, for a reported overturned vehicle, possibly no injuries. Box 2-02. Rescue 29 marked out with 4, Chief 21-3 (K. Boreman) in the seat. Units arrived to find a Mack dump truck on it's driver's side, off the roadway, single occupant out standing. Dump truck was loaded with chicken pooo. The driver refused treatment. PSP arrived and released Fire/EMS units - later called back to supply fire police while they uprighted the truck

16;43 - Co 2, Co 1, EMS 20 dispatched to Fermanagh Twp, US 22/322 westbound at the Arch Rock Exit, for a reported tractor trailer fire. Box 2-07. Engine 22 marked out with 4, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) in the seat. JCCC had a caller report heavy smoke coming from the right side of a T/T. Medic 29 in the area reports no smoke, no fire. Capt 21 (Adair) & PSP o/s, box cleared

01/07/09 - Ice storm only supplies 1 call for the 2 days
20:29 - Co 2, EMS 20 sent to Walker Twp, Cedar Spring & Zendt Hollow, for trees and wires down. Engine 22 marked out w/ 4, Chief 21-2 (Leiter) --back from 80 degree Cancun to enjoy the 30 degrees and ice-- in the seat. R29 to access Van Wert end. E22 o/s with PP&L already there. Box was cleared a short time later.

01/05/09 - Alarm bells sounding starts the morning off
11:55 - Co 2, 1, 4, 5, EMS 20 dispatched to Mifflintown Boro, 4 S. Main Street (Jacobs Building), for fire alarms sounding. Box 2-01. Capt 21-3 (J. Boreman) marked o/s with normal conditions Side A. Engine 22 marked out with 4, Capt 21 (Adair) in the seat. JCCC advised the caller stated alarms sounding on all 3 floors, no smoke or fire visible. Box initially held to responding units, then quickly downgraded to a Local Box. Units o/s approx 15 mins, false trip, owner notified.

12:11 - After just clearing the AFA, Engine 22 dispatched to the airport to assist EMS with the landing zone operations. Engine 22 marked out with 4, Capt 21 (Adair) in the seat. LZ ops were moved to F2 and Life Lion 3 had a 14 min ETA. EMS 20 & Medic 29 were on the scene in Arch Rock with a 54 y/o/m who fell over 10' from the interior of a chickenhouse. Pt. fell through the floor to the ground, no LOC

01/03/09 - A request for lift assist, assisting EMS 1 starts the day
1215 - Co 2 dispatched to Village of Mexico, Foster Street, assisting EMS 1 with lifting. Rescue 29 marked out with 4, Capt 21-3 en route to the scene. Capt 21-3 arrived on scene, advising JCCC there was suffiecient manpower on scene, Rescue 29 could go available. Rescue 29 went in service and Capt 21-3 cleared the box shortly thereafter.

1/2/09 - Units open the day with a 322 run
13:50 - Co 2, Co 1, EMS 20 dispatched to Fermanagh Twp, Rt 322 E/B, 1/4 mile west of the Arch Rock Exit, for a single vehicle accident. Box 2-07. On-Star customer passer-by reported 1 vehicle into the guiderails, unknown injuries. Rescue 29 marked out w/ 4. FP 2 o/s with PSP, PSP wishes all Fire/EMS placed avail, no injuries - box cleared.

1/1/09 - Medical assist starts off the '09 year
21:53 - Co 2 requested by Medic 29 for assistance in Mifflintown Boro, Manbeck Lane (just off 7th Street) for a cardiac arrest. Rescue 29 marked out with 5, Chief 21-3 (K. Boreman) in the seat. R29 arrived and crew assisted EMS with pt. package and extrication from residence. Box cleared shortly after.
